When a certain thought becomes the basis for all other thoughts such a thought is considered a fundamental thought upon which other thoughts are built. For Muslims,Islamic aqeedah constitutes the basic thought upon which all other thoughts built. For the Westerners, the belief in 'freedom' is the basis for all other thoughts as every issue is measured against this basic thought. This process of consistently building thoughts upon a basic thought is the characteristic of a personality who has firmly decided upon a certain viewpoint in life to proceeed. Then there are others who have not decided upon a specific viewpoint.Rather they prefer to jump back and forth between various viewpoints with no specific direction. For example there are many Muslims who would refer to Islam for matters such as
prayer,hygiene,marriage..etc and when faced with a issue such as voting in an election they would conveniently switch to another viewpoint or another aqeedah.
Over the last fours years or so,a brand new aqeedah has been taking shape in Maldivian minds. This new aqeedah about "being anti-government" is so influential in people's thinking that every discussion seems to centre around this thought. This new aqeedah has become the reference point to determine what is right and wrong. This new aqeedah is used to provide
justifications for bending the rules of Islam. This new aqeedah is also responsible for people becoming desensitised to other serious issues(there is absolutely no way that any other topic can get as much public attention as this new aqeedah). This new aqeedah is the favourite subject to write about and earn a living. This new aqeedah is transforming criminals into pious and valiant heroes(If you are an "anti government" you can even defame Islam and still receive no criticism). This brand new aqeedah is also a unifying platform for criminals, secular radicals and even Islamic scholars! Finally this new aqeedah can wipe off one's past sins according to the Islamic party in the country.
