(A talk given by Professor Asim Umayra at the Najah University in Nablus, Palestine on 15th April 2000)

In the Name of Allah (swt), all praise is to Allah (swt) and peace be upon the Prophet of Allah (saw) and upon his family, his companions and whomever followed him, furthermore: Ladies and Gentlemen, Assalamu alaikum wa rahmat Allahi wa barakatuhu.

Seventy-eight years ago Hijri, a great disaster befell the Muslims, and a horrible crime was committed against them, as well as the generations after them; a crime which may be called the mother of all crimes. This crime was the destruction of the Khilafah, the crime of eliminating the Islamic Khilafah system, eliminating Allah's (swt) book and the Sunnah of His Prophet (saw) from the status of ruling and as the reference point for the Islamic Ummah. Due to this, the Muslims have met a combined wrath from the sky and the earth, removing Allah's (swt) Shari'a from his earth, as He (swt) became angry with them, causing them to fall into arguments and lack of action, and closed the doors of progress and deprived them of pride and dignity, he made the problems between themselves great and entrusted their affairs to their enemies, who took from them most of what they had.

Abu Huraira narrated: ''The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: ''If Allah loves a slave, he calls out to Jibreel, I have loved so-and-so, so love him. So he would call out to the skies and love would be established for him on earth'' for Allah said: ''On those who believe and work deeds of righteousness will the Most Gracious (Allah) bestow Love''. And the Prophet (saw) said ''And if a slave has displeased Allah, he calls out to Jibreel, I am displeased with so-and-so, so he calls out to the skies, and displeasure is established for him on earth''.

Since it has been proven to us that several Muslims have partaken in this mother of all crimes, and many of the Muslims have remained silent, accepted it and followed, how do we know that Allah (swt) did not call out to Jibreel (as) and say to him: I have been displeased by these people, so be displeased with them, so Jibreel (as) then called out to the skies the Divine judgement, and the angels moved to implement, so they lifted up the fortifying protection, and took away the defences, and removed the blessings, and the rain of the skies lessened, and the angels of victory put down their weapons, unmoved by the calls for help emanating from the burdened, the helpless and the oppressed, since the conditions for answering were no longer being fulfilled. In this depressing atmosphere, the masses of Jinn and the leaders of the Satans became more active, and the groups of whisperers, who withdraw after their whispers, of Jinn and men, spread.

Brothers and Sisters. This is a small piece of the anger from the heavens, and no one has any idea of the number of sins recorded, and the losses incurred due to this anger.

As for displeasure on earth, the evidences of this are sensed, and its results are not missed by an eye capable of seeing. For the manifestation of Kufr upon the Muslims, the separation of their lands and the plundering of their wealth is no less than the killing of their men, banishment of their people and torturing them. Our history holds not a page in its bind as blackened or as horrid as the page, which speaks of the disgraceful history from the time of the fall of the Khilafah until this day. Anger has befallen the Muslims from the skies to the earth, so their enemies have inflicted upon them the worst of punishments and tortured them the worst kinds of torture, and they continue to do so. Allah (swt) has made the strife between them great and the ways of disagreement, disparity and separation worked between them, to an extent little of the history of those who preceded them has witnessed the likes of. And based on this, I say: The matter is great, the disaster is enormous and the action required is immense in size, immense in its Ajr (reward), difficult to perform and abundant in its Sawab (rewards). It requires fine detailed knowledge, tremendous effort, continuous patience, serious determination and stamina. And in the light of these important given facts, it becomes clear that complete priority must be given to this life and death issue. It must be placed above all other issues similar to it. In addition the actions that are required to solve it must be known.

The destruction of the Khilafah has led to the discontinuance of ruling by Islam and stopped actions according to the Qur'an and Sunnah. This is a blatant violation to what Allah (swt) said: ''And this (He commands): judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, but beware of them lest they mislead you from any of that (teaching) which Allah has sent down to you'' [Al-Maida: 49]. This alone is sufficient to bring Allah's (swt) anger upon us, and to have the angels of punishment prepare to take us away and to have Jahannam prepared for our arrival. I seek refuge with Allah (swt) from that.

The mother of all crimes has opened the doors wide open for the Kuffar, as well as Muslims, to commit all possible crimes equally. So the Kuffar kill people, steal resources, violate the rights of others, plan over and roam about the lands of the Muslims, exactly as the wolf does with sheep whose shepherd is absent. As well as the Muslims, who commit all sorts of crimes that are punishable by the Islamic Shari'a, whether by legal punishment, compensation or chastisement, but they escape from the punishment, as these crimes do not contradict the current laws. Because of this, the record books of crimes committed are in a constant increase at the passing of every minute, and the explanation for all this is as follows:

Of the greater crimes committed, brought about by the mother of all crimes, is the defining of the sincere Muslim, who works for the resumption of the Islamic way of life by the re-establishment of the Khilafah, as a criminal deserving the worst of punishments, which works as a material and spiritual impediment before the Muslims in the work to establish the rule of Allah (swt) on his earth.

The exploitation of armies, consisting of the sons of the Ummah, working within the fields of the army, police, and intelligence to protect the ruling regimes in the lands of the Muslims, and their undertaking of body guarding, spying and the running of daily affairs on the basis other than Islam are terrible crimes committed, and which continue to be committed, against the Muslims maliciously and with demeaning arrogance.

Drowning the Muslims working in the Islamic field in shallow and obscure differences, after exaggerating the problem, as well as keeping them busy with open ended actions, exhausting most of their time, depleting their energy, and sucking out most of their zeal is a disgusting crime committed against this Ummah and her sincere young men and women.

Tying the political affairs of the Muslim Ummah to what is called international law, and subduing the Muslim Ummah to the authority of the Kuffar, and the implementation of United Nation's decisions and those of her Security Council, and more loyalty towards them than towards Allah's (swt) Shari'a, which was sent down from above the seven heavens, makes up a great and destructive crime upon this Ummah.

The running of the Muslims economy according to the usurious capitalist system is a disastrous crime, calling upon those who commit it a war from Allah (swt) and His Prophet (saw), and we have reached a time where everyone has committed usury, and whoever did not, was affected by its dust.

The construction of the education systems and activities according to the Kafir Western education systems is a crime against the coming generations, destroying their mentalities and spirit, and in the end, it will lead to the complete overpowering of their Islamic personalities, producing generations of Muslims moulded by the West, attached to her Deen, Aqeeda (creed), values and system of life.

Taking over the Minbars of the Mosques and the seats of teaching - at the head of them the three mosques, in Makkah, Madinah and Al-Quds - and preventing the expression of a word of truth, as well as utilising all of them to serve the lowly desires of the rulers, is considered a crime of deep and far reaching implications in the hearts of the Muslims and a great handicap on the work of those sincere and dedicated ones working for the re-establishment of the Khilafah state.

The acceptance of Islam being placed equal to the other religions, from the sky or the earth, under the context of the unity of religions, or discussion between them, the meeting of the leaders of the Kuffar and the acceptance to perform their actions and rituals of delusion in public places, and the partaking of some Muslims in these rituals is a crime which raises the lowly and lowers the elevated and makes the hair of a child turn grey.

The division of the Muslim lands into measly pieces which call themselves countries, holding narrow nationalistic aims, then allowing further division for Islamic Wilayas from the mother state, is considered, according to Islam, a dangerous crime, emanating a filthy stench annoying the sense of smell, not to mention the separation and divisions which tore the Muslim Ummah apart.

The blatant submission of the Muslim rulers to America, as they step forth to take care of the affairs of their people is a political crime that makes suicide look moderate. There is no other reason that pushes them to undertake such actions, but the strength of America. But is the one who created them and created America not more deserving to submit to and more deserving of worship?

The silence of many of the Muslims and their rulers regarding the presence of rapists on their lands, and the constant murdering of their sons and brothers, the daily violations of their honour, and blatant disregard towards their sacred matters, and worst of all, accepting their existence as legitimate and taking down the barriers of enmity between them. Only the despicable of creation, the conspirators and those who have no sense of honour towards themselves, or their families would do such a thing.

The attempts of some of the government scholars to invent new methods in Islamic Jurisprudence [Fiqh] alien to it, like the ''Fiqh of reality'' and ''Fiqh of criteria'' and ''Fiqh of benefits'' and others, are considered fabrications against the Deen and a great lie against Islamic Jurisprudence.

The relentless work done by the Kuffar and their helpers to distort the picture of the Khilafah in the minds of the Muslims, like the fabrication of lies against the Ottomans and displaying their errors, while at the same time promoting capitalism, secularism, freedom and pluralism as the better alternative for a better life, founded a generation of Muslims who love capitalism and its derivatives, taking great pride in nationalism, tribalism and others, with an equal degree of hatred towards the mention of the Khilafah or the Islamic State due to this distortion.

Kind brothers and sisters: This is the anger due to the overflow of crimes committed, and which continue to be committed, against Islam and the Muslims since the destruction of the Islamic Khilafah, of which Istanbul was its last capital seventy something years ago. If it were written for us (by Allah) to begin to put forth lists of accusations toward this large mass of criminals before just courts, who rule with fair scales, rulings would be made which would bring down heads for as long as they continue to be raised in wrongdoing, bodies would be thrown into the prisons for as long as they continue to enjoy freedom when they do not deserve it, clothing of respect and honour would be torn off for as long as they wear it in deceit and slander, and would take away the ownership of great wealth from men and women as long as they enjoy its luxuries without the right to do so. At the same time, these courts would give back the rights to many living Muslim men and women, who for long have been silenced, distanced, oppressed and removed from their true deserving positions, and whomever did not get their rights, their complaint has been raised to the King of Kings, the Overpowering, the Avenger who said: ''Verily from those who transgress We shall exact (due) retribution'' [As-Sajda: 22]. In summary these trials will, by far, be the greatest trials of all time.

Kind brothers and sisters: It must be noted that the Muslim awakening, their agitation and their movement towards revival has met with increased resistance by the Kuffar and their helpers. We are constantly watched, and the attention paid to any new developments in our work is thorough. It is important for the Muslims to be at the level of this reality, for it is unacceptable for the enemy to stay up all night, while our eyes are full with rest!

The doors to their unjust courts do not shut all year round, while they constantly look into cases raised against us and treat us as criminals for our Islamic actions and work towards Islam. Their pursuance is continuous, and their attacks on the sincere and determined Islamic groups are relentless, and the attempts to destroy them and those who support them have become a matter impossible to ignore. As for the Islamic education centres in America and Britain and the Kufr states in the East and West, they are constantly increasing in number and their vitality is growing, and the meetings of the Ministers of the Interior in the states currently ruling in the Islamic world have not stopped for a very long time, as they continue to exchange information and advice on how to handle the carriers of the Islamic da'wa, and these plans are not affected by their political differences, which normally get in the way of meetings between the leaders and cause meetings of heads of Ministries and Foreign Ministers to fail.


The main goal for all this is to uproot any sincere action undertaken by the Muslims to restore their previous honour and resume their glorious history, and this deceitful planning and scheming was made blatantly clear in Lebanon, Chechnya, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Egypt, Algeria, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Yemen and many other Muslim countries. It is even possible to say in this respect, that the work against the sincere and serious workers for Islam; those aiming to rebuild the destroyed Islamic Khilafah, and resume the Islamic way of life which has been severed; has spread throughout the whole world.

Kind brothers and sisters: Seventy-eight years ago(in 1924), the Jewish criminal Mustafa Kamal committed the mother of all crimes, by eliminating the Khilafah system, under whose shade the Muslims had lived for thirteen centuries. So he invented a repugnant invention that brought nothing to the Islamic Ummah except every type of widespread evil, and offered them nothing but great loss. This vile crime has agitated the emotions of a poet who had lived during this heart breaking incident, so he took out his pen, after sharpening his talent, and produced poetry conveying the disaster, describing the accursed Mustafa Kamal by what is suitable for him and his crime, after he had praised him previously, before being told about his malicious roots.

May Allah (swt) bless you, oh poet, and may he grant you the finest of reward for what you have said, and we yearn for men of pens and tongues like yours, and ask Allah (swt), the Most High, the Capable, that the emotions of the Muslims become agitated today, and sense the enormity of this crime which has been committed against them, so they may rise to wash off their disgrace, and to return the strike twice as hard to the instigators.

Kind brothers and sisters: After the Prophet (saw) established the first Islamic State in Al-Madina Al-Munawwarah, he (saw) and the Muslims with him and those who came after him, and who followed his footsteps, achieved something; they achieved the pleasure and love of Allah, so he called out to Jibreel (as); Oh Jibreel, I have loved these people, so love them, so Jibreel (as) called out to the Angels of the skies that Allah (swt) has loved these people, so love them, so the Angels moved to implement the order of the Divine love, which demeaned the plans of the Jinn and Satans, and weakened their authority. Acceptance was then established for the Muslims on earth, and the lands were opened for them, the call spread for them widely, justice became widespread, and oppression was confined. The kings and leaders were exposed to their call, so whomever believed, believed so Allah (swt) honoured him, and whomever disbelieved, disbelieved so Allah (swt) disgraced him, and the Angels of war pulled out their swords and fought alongside the lines of the Muslim Mujahideen, so clear victory came true. Allah (swt) said ''We meted out Retribution: and it was due from Us to aid those who believed'' [Ar-Rum: 47].

In the Hadith from Abdullah bin Abbas, of Umar bin Al-Khattab, who said: ''On the day of Badr, the Messenger of Allah (saw) looked at the Mushrikeen (Polytheists), and they were one thousand men, and his companions were three hundred and nineteen, so the Prophet of Allah (saw) turned towards the Qiblah and outstretched his hands and began calling out to his Lord: Oh Allah, fulfil what you have promised. Oh Allah, grant me what you have promised. Oh Allah, if you destroy this group of the people of Islam, you will not be worshipped on this Earth. And continued to call out to his Lord as long as his hands were in the direction of the Qiblah, until his robe fell off his shoulders, so Abu Bakr came and picked up his robe and placed it back upon his shoulders, then supporting him from behind, he said, Oh Prophet of Allah, your plea to your Lord is sufficient, for he will fulfil his promise to you. So Allah (swt) revealed the verse: 'Remember if you implored the assistance of your Lord, and He answered you: ''I will assist you with a thousand of the angels, ranks upon ranks [Al-Anfal: 9]''.

So Allah assisted him with Angels, as Abu Zameel said that Ibn Abbas said: ''That day, if a Muslim was in pursuit of one of the Mushrikeen in front of him, he would hear a whipping sound above him, and the voice of the rider would say, ''Aqdim Hayzum'', then he would look to the Mushrik in front of him, and see him fall onto his face. Upon inspecting him, he would find his nose slashed and his face torn, like the strike of a whip. Everyone experienced this, so Al-Ansari came to the Messenger of Allah (saw) and told him of this, so he (saw) said: You have said the truth; they were from the heights of the third sky. Seventy were killed that day, and seventy were taken hostage.''

Kind Brothers and Sisters: This is exactly what we desire today, and work in earnest to repeat, for how valuable is the life of the Muslims under the rule of Al-Taghut (falsehood) and ignorance? What good is our existence after our authority has been taken away from us and our enemies have emerged upon us? We are in dire need of the pleasure of Allah (swt), and the re-establishment of his trust in us after the scales have overflowed.

With the help of Allah (swt) and his strength, we must look to return to the Khilafah, regardless of the cost, because we wish for our Lord to look upon us with the position of pleasure and mercy, and for the orders of Divine love to be renewed, so the schemes of the Satans of Man and Jinn will be removed from us, and acceptance will be established for us. And we love for you what we love for ourselves, and upon this we invite you and all the Muslims to work sincerely and in earnest, utilising all energies, with the sincere and serious workers, who aim to re-establish the lost Khilafah, and the return of the missing gem, so that we take back our rightful positions between the nations, as bringers of happiness, as bringers of guidance and as Mujahideen. This is the honour in this world and in the afterlife. Not one of you should neglect this honourable duty to be the finest inheritors of the finest predecessors. So raise your determination, and motivate your sense of honour towards your Deen and Ummah, and let not the mass of falsehood and its influence cause you dismay, for this stage is nearly over, and the line illustrating the work of those working for Khilafah is increasing at an astonishing rate, and their steps towards victory become closer and closer everyday. Our trust in Allah (swt) is great and our hope for his nearing victory is untouched by even a single mark, and Allah (swt) has full power over His affairs, but most among mankind know not, and He, glory be to He, is the one who said: ''Allah has promised, to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He will, of a surety, grant them in the land, inheritance (of power), as He granted it to those before them; that He will establish in authority their religion, the one which He has chosen for them; and that He will change (their state), after the fear in which they (lived), to one of security and peace'' [An-Nur: 55]
