Islam condemns irrationalism

As Muslims, we are obliged to refer back to Islam for all our problems, be they of a political nature or a social nature. Thus, our belief that Islam solves all the problems that we face not only encompasses the systems of life, but goes to the extent of showing the correct way of thinking. Indeed, it is only because of the decline in the thought process that has resulted in our decline as Muslims. It is because we have blindly followed, not only the solutions of the West, but also their way of thinking that has resulted in our demise.

Although the West prides itself over its rational thought, it is no more rational than the idol worshipping Quraysh. Let us consider the following verses of Qur'an. In surah al-Anbiya' Allah (swt) mentions the discussion of Ibrahim (as) with them Mushrikoon at his time. 'And [he added to himself,] By God I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away. And then he broke those idols to pieces (all) except the biggest of them, so that they might be able to turn to it. When they saw what had happened, they said, Who has done this to our gods? Verily, one of the worst wrongdoers is he. Said some of them: We heard a youth speak of these (gods with scorn): he is called Abraham. The other said: Then bring him before the people's eyes, so that they might bear witness (against him). (And when he came) they asked: Hast though done this to our gods, O Abraham: He answered: Nay it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them (yourselves) provided you can speak. And so they turned upon one another, saying Behold it is you who are doing wrong.'

They believed that the idols provided life and death, that is, the attribute of Allah (swt). So the action of destroying all but one of them showed the impotency of their gods in preventing themselves from being destroyed, and in the case of the large idol, the impotency of preventing the others from being destroyed. How can a god be destroyed was the fundamental question that Ibrahim (as) raised. The mushrikoon understood the issue and for a moment acknowledged the validity of the argument, but soon afterwards stooped in their old ways and tried to burn Ibrahim (as). A similar example exists at the time of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), in relation to infanticide. In surah an-Nahl, Allah (swt) says in translation,

'And (thus too), they ascribe daughters to Allah (swt), Who is limitless in His glory - whereas for themselves (they would choose, if they could, only) what they desire.' [16:57]

The contradiction is similar in nature. The mushrikoon buried their daughters alive, for it was deemed a bad omen, while at the same time they ascribed daughters to Allah (swt). Thus, on the one hand they demeaned the female gender and then also worshipped it. Thus, the notion of contradiction in the fundamental belief of them Mushrikoon is again addressed.

These two verses of the Qur'an show not only the nature of jahiliyyah, but actually provide us a deeper meaning of Kufr. Any Kufr belief will have contradictions in it, because it is from man and not from Allah (swt)

Lying is also a method to avoid rational thinking. Examining the political bickering in Maldives reveals blind irrationalism characterized by lying and diversion from the actual topic of discussion .For example, when one of these die hard fans of 'anti' camp are questioned about their party's dastardly acts, they would immediately divert from the topic and say 'the government did this or that' or 'Mr. X needs to resign'.
